Hotel Shuttle

The Hilton Garden Inn Troy does not offer a shuttle service, complimentary or otherwise. Please plan to utilize either ride-share or other taxi services for trips to and from the airport, bus, and train stations.

Registration Envelope Pickup

Registration envelopes will be available for pickup from 4 PM to 8 PM on Thursday evening in the hotel lobby, near the check-in desk. Envelopes will be distributed by Kelleigh Larsson and Lucy Marr. On Friday, convention attendees can pick up their envelopes from 7 AM to 9 AM in the Ballroom Foyer.

Dining and Meals

Several convention events, including the board meeting, Federation Family Night, and banquet, will correspond with meals. Individual meal tickets and a plan including tickets to all 9 meals for a reduced price were made available through the online registration form and, if purchased, will be found in your registration envelope. Meal tickets should be placed at 12 o'clock above each diner’s place setting, braille side down. Only those with tickets will be served. Some of our divisions, and committees will be gathering for meetings with varying degrees of structure/formality during Breakfasts and Lunches during convention as well. 

Tickets allowing convention attendees to take advantage of an open bar for two hours each on Friday and Saturday evenings were also made available through the registration process. Attendees who chose to opt into the open bar will be given a wristband upon entering the Federation Family Night on Friday and the Banquet on Saturday. Attendees without wristbands will not be served at the bar.

The hotel has 2 restaurants. The Recovery Sports Grill is open Monday through Sunday, 11:30 AM to 9:45 PM. The Garden Grill and Bar is open Monday through Friday 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM, and 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM Saturday and Sunday.

New York State Commission for the Blind

The New York State Commission for the Blind (NYSCB) NYSCB provides vocational rehabilitation and other direct services to individuals who are legally blind or deaf-blind including children, youth, adults and older adults. NYSCB works closely with not-for-profit agencies for the blind throughout New York State to provide technical, educational and resource assistance to our participants. One of NYSCB’s primary services is assisting participants in achieving economic self-sufficiency and full integration into society. NYSCB offers these services through seven district offices across New York State. •	Vocational Rehabilitation Program – provides guidance and counseling to assist participants who are legally blind find or retain employment. •	Business Enterprise Program – provides training and on-going support for blind vendors in operating food service facilities in federal and state buildings. Any individual who is legally blind or deaf-blind, 18 years or older and is a United States citizen, may be eligible for this program. •	Children's Program – rehabilitation services to legally blind children from birth up to age 22. Goals are early intervention, empowering parents, arranging services to supplement educational activities and ensuring a smooth transition to adult services. •	Transition Program – pre-employment transition services to students ages 14 to 22 and vocational rehabilitation services for all youth who are legally blind, including those with additional disabilities. •	Summer Socialization Skills Program – summer camp and recreational opportunities for youth who are legally blind. •	Independent Living Program – helps individuals with low vision carry out day-to-day activities and assists them in living at home and in the community. •	Adaptive Living Program – helps individuals who are legally blind over the age of 55, unless they have circumstances where they do not want to pursue employment, learn skills and strategies to remain independent and safely manage daily living in their homes and communities. •	Equipment Loan Fund – helps to purchase equipment that will improve the quality of daily life. New York State Preferred Source Program

NYSPSP: Purchase with a Purpose

New York State Preferred Source Program NYSPSP’s mission is to create meaningful employment for New Yorkers who are blind through state government purchases of products and services. NYS Finance Law 162, enacted in 1945, mandates that the Preferred Sources take precedence over all other sources of supply and competitive procurement methods. NYSPSP is a subsidiary of National Industries for the Blind and has 10 affiliated agencies across the state employing people who are blind making products and providing services that state and local government need to operate. NYSPSP sells $58M of products and services to state agencies, cities, towns, schools and public authorities. Product lines include cleaning, medical, office, safety, personal care and maintenance supplies as well as business services including call center services, document imaging, warehousing and digital accessibility services.
